Program and fees

The Anim sur le Lac Festival aims to promote and showcase animation cinema in all its forms. This celebration of animated films will feature six screening sessions, a retrospective on filmmaker Patrick Bouchard, and a Stop Motion workshop with Érick Goulet. Three prizes will be awarded: the Jury Prize, the Best Student Film and the Audience Award.

The first edition of Anim sur le Lac will take place on August 8, 9 and 10, 2025, in Saint-Félicien, Lac-Saint-Jean.

A submission fee of 22$ applies.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

  • Read and accept the regulations.
  • Complete the submission form.
  • Pay the submission fee via PayPal.
  • Submit the form electronically.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

  • The Festival will prioritize films made after January 1, 2024.
  • Submissions received after April 20, 2025, will not be considered.
  • Only short films of 30 minutes or less are eligible.
  • All types of animation are accepted, including narrative animation, documentary animation, and experimental animation.

  • Priority will be given to works that have not been made freely available online.
  • Student works are eligible in all categories if they meet the criteria. The Festival reserves the right to create a dedicated program for student works.
  • By submitting a film, the applicant confirms that they hold all necessary copyrights for screening the work at a film festival.
  • The person responsible for the submission must provide a screening link and a password if the link is protected. The link and password must remain valid until September 1, 2025.
  • Unfinished films at the time of submission may be considered if the screening copy shows sufficient progress and if the applicant commits to completing the film one month before the festival begins.
  • The Festival reserves the right to accept late submissions if justified by the circumstances.
  • The information provided during registration will be used in various publications and may be translated and edited.
  • Submitted materials, including images, will be used for the Festival’s communication tools.

SELECTION PROCESS

  • All participants will receive a response by mid-June 2025 at the latest.
  • All films considered for pre-selection are reviewed by the selection committee, but the final decision is made by the programming director. A selection committee (acting in an advisory capacity) will assist the programming director in the pre-selection and selection of works for the Festival.

The official selection is made by the artistic direction. Films may be programmed in the following sections:

  • Regular Programs
  • Young Audience Program
  • Student Program (to be confirmed)

IF YOUR FILM IS SELECTED

  • Once the selection is announced to the filmmakers, THE FILM CANNOT BE WITHDRAWN from the program.
  • The Festival reserves the right to use excerpts of selected works (max. 60 seconds), trailers, and images from the films for strictly promotional purposes.
  • The Festival will pay copyright fees to the rights holders of Canadian films presented during the event.
  • Depending on the agreement with the film’s representative, the Festival may also pay copyright fees to the rights holders of all Canadian and international films screened outside the festival.

SCREENING COPIES

  • If selected, you will receive detailed instructions regarding the screening copy in the official selection letter.
  • The screening copy of a selected film must be received no later than June 30, 2025, in ProRes 422 LT format.
  • Screening copies must be subtitled in French if the film is in another language. If this presents an issue, please contact the Festival.

ATTENDING THE FESTIVAL

  • Ideally, each selected film should be represented by the filmmaker(s) or a team member during the event.
  • The Festival will cover a certain number of hotel nights for filmmakers whose films are selected.
  • For international filmmakers (outside Québec), the Festival can provide an official invitation letter to help them apply for travel grants from their respective institutions.
  • If your film is selected, our team will contact you directly with details regarding accommodation and accreditation procedures.
